Patara is a beach which is near to Patara historical city and one of the most beautiful beaches in Turkey. It places in the Turkish city, Antalya, Fethiye.
Patara Beach is the biggest beach of Mediterranean beaches, and one of the biggest European beaches. It’s lenght is about 18 km and depth is respectively around 300 meters. Its sand is so thin and the view of the sea is amazing, so it’s one of the inspirer beauty for domestic and international photographers. Also, Caretta- caretta turtles give birth at Patara Beach and because of that situation, UNESCO tries to protect the Patara area. Also, the Turkish Culture Ministery tries its best to protect Patara beach and Caretta caretta turtle’s eggs. These eggs are one of the causes why tourists from all over the world come to Patara every year. But it’s very important to remember, please don’t disturb these turtles because when they are disturbed they cannot give birth and it harms to the future. İt’s also strictly forbidden to light out in beaches at night. Because Caretta carettas are born at night and when they are born, they go where the light is coming from. So it’s important for the moon’s be the only light source at night.
Every year both domestic and foreign tourists come to Patara. As we mentioned before, the natural beauty of the beach, the length of the beach, windsurfing, and Caretta caretta turtles’ eggs are among the causes why tourists come to Patara. The wind which affects Patara beach is so suitable for Wind surfing so Patara Beach is one of the best places for windsurfing. Sometimes, wind surfing competitions are held in Patara at different times of the year. But, at the same time, we can mention about the natural historical places at Patara. The history of the Patara dates back to around 3000 years ago and it’s the hometown of some important cultures throughout history. So it’s impossible for Patara to not have any historical places.
There are some historic places at near to Patara beach. The antique place, Temple of Apollo and Metius Modestus are in the borders of Patara City. Tourists also come to visit these historical places at Patara. These historical places at Patara also date back about 2500 years ago. It is also said that Santa Claus, the Father of Christmas was born at that city, Patara. This is also one of the causes for both domestic and foreign tourists to come to visit Patara, one of the most beautiful beaches of the world.
